A brand to distinguish South Carolina's most experienced contractors

Upstate Contracting is a team of experienced general contractors and home builders in Anderson, SC, and the greater Upstate region, dedicated to delivering craftsmanship that stands the test of time. They wanted a brand that represented the upstate of South Carolina to reinforce that they are the leading experts in their field for that region.

To honor that vision, I designed several versions of the logo, incorporating a similar deep navy color to the one in the SC state flag. The upstate of SC is also known for their foothills and blue ridge mountains, so I incorporated that motif in my designs by using a contrasting blue for the "sky" in the logo with illustrations of a mountain. These pieces each make up a house icon to reinforce the idea of their area of expertise.

From there, I built out a full suite of brand assets, including a horizontal wordmark, standalone brand mark, full logo with tagline, and updated color palette. I included black and white versions and a color palette with high contrast values to both meet AA accessibility web standards and provide dark and light options for the web designers.
